DARKSIDE OF SOCIAL MEDIA


This article aims to explain the multidimensional nature of the dark side of social media and the various unwanted consequences associated with it. To do this, we adapt the established social media honeycomb framework to explain the shortcomings of each of the seven functional components of conversation, sharing, presence, relationships, reputation, groups, and identities. Based on these considerations, we present some tools for future research to enable better understanding and use of social media. The dark side of social media affects many aspects of individuals, communities, organizations, and society. Therefore, submissions are not limited to any particular stakeholder or topic. Social Media Dark Side  Results come when you spend more time  on social media can lead to cyberbullying, social anxiety, depression, and age-appropriate content. Some good things are bad. Along with all its benefits, the nature of social media poses many potential problems. Online vs. Reality. Social media itself is not a problem. It's the way people use it instead of real communication or personal sociability. "Friends" on social media may not  be friends, even strangers. Increased usage. Spending more time  on social media can lead to cyberbullying, social anxiety, depression, and age-appropriate content.Social media is addicting. Whenever you play a game or complete a task,  do your best. If you succeed, your brain will give you doses of dopamine and other happiness hormones that will make you happy. The same mechanism works when posting photos to Instagram or Facebook. As soon as you see all the  likes and positive comment notifications on your screen, you unknowingly register this as a reward. But that's not all. Social media is full of mood-changing experiences. Self-image problem. Social media sites provide tools that allow people to get the approval of others for their appearance and  compare themselves to others. It can be linked to body image concerns. "Egocentrics" and those who spend most of their time posting and scrolling are  most susceptible to this. In fact, most college girls who use Facebook at least five times a day can associate self-esteem with appearance. That doesn't mean that the main issue is social media. It only provides a medium to make the problem worse. Also encourage others to do the same.

  1. The dark side of social media is scary. So much hate and bullying can happen it's impossible to ignore and nearly impossible to police these people on these sites.
