my dad tried to kill me with an Alligator

In the story my overall thoughts it was a very good story. What’s the stood out to me was that the Author's father tried to "kill" him and his older brother with random things when they were young. The father is teaching his children, in a way, how to grow up and face their fears. He does it in a way that can give his sons the impression that he is mentally unstable. The Author orders his brother and the Author to go with him to find a fishing rod that belonged to his father after the Author loses it. He instructs the Author to search the water alongside alligators for it. He retreats out of fear; later, he realizes that there probably never was an alligator in the first place; however, his panicked mind leads him to believe there was. I think the Author is attempting to convey not only his childhood to the reader but also a life lesson his father imparted to him that he would have passed on to his children. Another  part that stood out to me was  the Author's children react the same way he did to his father as a child in the final 13 lines of the story. I got a look that said, "Is my father an idiot for bringing us out here?" as the eight-year-old turned and looked at me. I know so much less than I ever thought I would in the thirty years since I asked the same question. Time and loss have destroyed everything that is true, but I know one thing: Fathers frequently come across as foolish when they do things right. Shaaaaaaaark!" The younger one said while the fin was only twenty yards away from appearing again. Would my children remember this moment in the future? Given that we do not know what it was, would they believe it was a shark? Would they fabricate tales about what they cannot see, what lies beneath the earth and water, what is buried, and what has vanished? Paddle!" "They said, attempting to land as best they could." I declared, "Girls, girls." Let's get closer. No!" They stated, " I will not allow it to harm you." Frozen, they stopped and pondered. We paddled toward the water monster after I turned our boat. This tale demonstrates a purpose behind every risk, whether swimming in a river full of alligators or taking expensive fishing rods. "I closed my eyes and tried to remember what it was like to be scared in that swamp a thousand years ago. I want them to know that safety should not be the defining virtue of their lives, and they want me to know that being alive should be the defining virtue of their lives". This is a quote that explains how risk affects life. Unknown outcomes, which can be fearful or beneficial, result from hazards. However, regardless of the product, an underlying meaning will alter your life's course, whether for the better or worse. The main character and I shared a few similarities in terms of connections. I would have trusted my father with anything, even though he didn't trust his father. One thing we have in common is that our fathers care about us and try to get us to grow up. When the Author was told to go into the oh water with the alligators, that was a positive and exciting part of the story. I was eager to find out what happened next in this scene. When the story skipped to when he was an adult from the middle of an intense scene, that was one part that left me a little disappointed.
